On-Location Networks provides support as you go.

One of the key roles we play in helping a client with a new installation is working with them to get the best possible installation and also helping to identify potential issues that might arise with a particular installation.

We have come across companies that request an entirely new gigabit-to-the-desktop Category 6 voice and data network for their clerical department. It sometimes hard to tell them that their dreams of a rocket fast LAN is overkill and that the users will most likely never fully utilize the benefits of such an elaborate and expensive setup. Really, how fast do you need to open that 20k word document? We then explain that by installing a simple but robust Cat5e network and integrating higher speed switching hubs it will actually be faster and cheaper overall. It’s nice to have such a bleeding-edge infrastructure, but in some cases, it’s not needed or practical.

By catching this oversight before the cable is ordered and installed, On-Location Networks LAN design team can recommend that the tight budget this company allocated towards its new network might be best used elsewhere. This value-added service is put in place to catch potential mistakes or oversights and help the client reduce overall project costs. In one such case, the client saved $13,000.00 in wiring costs and was able to upgrade their network hubs to managed switches at the same time. This overall increased network throughput greater than would be achieved by installing an underutilized standard for this type of installation.

But sometimes you really do need the speed…

In the case of a graphics and animation design studio, the opposite was true. The client needed full-duplex gigabit speed to twelve design studios that would be used for streaming broadcast quality video. On-Location Networks designed a mixed mode installation incorporating both copper and fiber optic network connections to all twelve studios. These were managed by an intelligent multi-layered switch to allow maximum bandwidth to each server without being bogged down by other network traffic. The overall result is an increase of over 300% in usable speed over just installing a CAT6 network by itself.

All our network consultation, design and installation is done in-house and managed by a single LAN design team to ensure no loss of human communication that can happen when involving several companies to perform a single project. In addition, overall installation time run-ons and delays are reduced or eliminated meaning your network becomes fully operational sooner.
